…As RAAMP Inaugurates Resettlement Implementation Committee
A traditional ruler in Moba local government area of Ekiti
State, the Obanirare of Irare Ekiti, Oba Olukayode Adebowale has commended the
World Bank and Ekiti State Government for awarding the contract for the
construction of Erinmope-Irare-Ikosu road.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti at the inauguration of Resettlement
Implementation Committee, the monarch who spoke through the chairman of the Resettlement
Implementation Committee for the road, Chief Oladipo Folorunso said the
construction of Erinmope-Irare-Ikosu road would not only be beneficial to farmers
in the benefitting rural communities but also provide motorable access road to
Irare Ekiti.
It is recalled that Erinmope-Irare-Ikosu road is one of the
13 roads which were awarded for construction on Tuesday.
Oba Adebowale who expressed gratitude to the state government
and the World Bank bemoaned the deplorable state of the road; saying that Erinmope-Irare-Ikosu
road which is the only road that leads to his community usually becomes
impassable during the raining season.
He pledged the cooperation of the community for smooth
construction of the road.
Meanwhile, the State Project Coordinator of Ekiti State Rural
Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) Hon. Sunday Adunmo has inaugurated
the Resettlement Implementation Committee for 12 of the 13 newly awarded roads
which have Project Affected Persons (PAPs).
Adunmo who told the community representatives that
construction work would begin on the roads as soon as compensations are paid to
people whose farms and property would be affected by the construction urged the
Committee members to ensure that all verified Project Affected Persons provided
valid bank details and are available for payment of their compensation.
The Project Coordinator urged community members to air their
grievances through the channels provided by the project, particularly the Grievance
Redress Committees in all the affected communities and warned against any acts
that may slow down construction work as the project is expected to be completed
within 18 months.
