The Supreme Court has affirmed Alhaji Abba
Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as the duly elected
Governor of Kano State.
Yusuf who polled 1,019,602 votes at the 2023 gubernatorial election to
defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf Gawuna who
scored 890,705 votes, had his election nullified by both the tribunal and the
Appeal court which declared Gawuna as governor.
Dissatisfied by the decision of the two
courts, Yusuf approached the Supreme Court which nullified his sack by
declaring him the duly elected governor of Kano State.
