EKITI STATE MINISTRY OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT REGISTERS 150 YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS

 

As part of efforts of the present administration in the state to continuously and effectively engage youths  as well as provide them with a reliable platform to achieve their full  potentials,  the Ekiti State Ministry of Youth Development has registered 150 Youth Organisations.


The State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Gold Adedayo made this known in Ado Ekiti while receiving in audience the Chairman of the House Committee on Youth Development, Hon  Idowu Odebunmi in  his office in Ado-Ekiti.


Mr Adedayo who restated the commitment of the Oyebanji Administration to ensure youths are gainfully employed recalled that  the present administration had since assumption of Office about a year ago employed over  1500 youths as primary school Teachers,500 as secondary teachers and a sizable number  as workers in the state civil service while efforts are  on to secure job opportunities for youths in the private intiatives that are  springing up in the state as a result of the favorable business climate being put in place by the Oyebanji Administration.


He solicited the cooperation of the House Committee in developing a comprehensive programme on youth  empowerment in the state that would promote self-employment, self-reliance among the youths .

 

 The Commissioner explained that the ministry is trying to collaborate with other ministries in the state in promoting programmes that would favour the youth


 He disclosed that the ministry recently  got approval from the  Governor to dissolve third Ekiti State Youth Parliament and Inaugurate the Fourth  Youth Parliament.


  Earlier in his remarks ,the Chairman of  Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Youth Development  ,Hon Idowu Odebunmi said youths have to be engaged  periodically in order to maintain peace in the society .

        

 Hon Odebunmi who  said that he would soon sponsor some private bills at the floor of the house aimed at providing youths with new opportunities to achieve their full potentials  explained that novel ideas like  establishment of  Youth Desks in all Local Government Areas of the State  and to orientate the Youth on Ekiti/ Yoruba Values were included the proposed legislations.


Present at the Forum was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Mr Arowosola  and top officials of the Ministry
