EKITI EDUCATION COMMISSIONER STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF DIGITAL LITERACY

 


Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye has described possession of Digital literacy skills as essential for participating in today's job market stressing that almost every profession requires digital skills, from basic computer skills to more advanced skills.


Speaking in Ado-Ekiti while declaring open a 2-Day  training workshop for management staff of her ministry, the Commissioner urged participants to leverage on the training workshop to improve their proficiency in digital literacy stressing that the  training programme was in tandem with Governor Biodun Oyebanji's vision of a Digital Literate State.


She described the 2-Day training programme organized by the  Ministry of Education on the platform of AGILE project in collaboration with SIDMACH Technologies Ltd as timely noting that Digital Literacy would go a long way in engendering  effective service delivery in the Education Sector in the State.

In her remarks, the Ekiti Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE)  Project Coordinator, Mrs Yewande Adesua said that the World is moving at a faster pace technologically stressing that Ekiti could not afford to be left out in this great initiative in order to stand tall with counterparts across the world.


The SIDMACH Technologies Resource Person, Mr Solomon Awosika who tutored participants extensively on Computing devices, Introduction to Office Productivity and Cyber security tips enlightened them on how to align information to learning needs especially in a digital environment.


Another resource person from SIDMACH Technologies Ltd, Miss Faith Talabi, tutored participants on Digital Content Creation using Canva App to design posters and fliers that can be used to boost digital contents about the activities of the ministry to the general public.


In their remarks, Miss ModupeOluwa Abe, Mrs Adenike Ilesanmi and Mr John Akinyemi who participated in the training workshop appreciated the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the initiative to invest in management officers of the ministry, stating that the training workshop has availed them the opportunity to learn, unlearn and relearn the needed skills to fit in as the world advances technologically.
