EKITI AGILE HOLDS TOWN HALL MEETING

 



…sensitizes  stakeholders on girls education and empowerment by AGILE Project

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE)in Ekiti State has held town hall meetings and sensitization programs in Ekiti State


The town hall meetings which were held in Aramoko Ekiti and Ido Ekiti had in attendance stakeholders such as students,artisans, market women, teachers,principals, traditional and religious leaders among others


The Deputy Project Coordinator of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment in Ekiti State, Toyin Osaleye while speaking at Aramoko and Ido  Ekiti said that renovation of all dilapidated structures in Public Secondary Schools in the State were completed under AGILE projects


The Director of Evaluation, Modupe Adebayo , while welcoming participants in Aramoko Ekiti appreciated the State Government for providing quality education in the State through the provision of conducive learning environment for pupils of public secondary schools.


“We are here because of our children. It is only in Ekiti in the whole of South-West that are benefiting from this project. We want to see how we can protect our girl-child. We don’t want to see them roaming around the streets. We are in the era of seeing more of our children in schools. We must also take care of our boys.” Ajayi explained.


While responding, the wife of the Chairman of Ekameta Local Council Development Area, Rhoda Oyebola  said the programme will impact positively in the lives of the adolescent girls through vocational training.



 Also the wife of Alara of Aramoko-Ekiti, Olori Adenike Adeyemi, showered encomium on the state government and the group for the programme saying that it will aid civilization.


The wife of the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, Olori Ngozi Ilori Faboro in her remarks,appreciated AGILE for bringing the program to the grassroots.


According to her, "It is  a very good project that is coming up in Ekiti State at a time like this. We are very appreciative of God and the First Lady of Ekiti State for this initiative".


“Girl education, girl empowerment is something that is very important in our society, community and in our state. We are grateful that Ekiti State was chosen as one of the seven participating states in the country". Olori Faboro stressed further.


Highlights of the event were sensitization sessions by AGILE Resource Speakers on Life Skills, Digital Skills, Gender Based Violence, Grievance Redress Mechanism,girls enrollment and retention in schools, renovations of schools among others 


The AGILE Town Hall meeting and sensitization program was earlier done in Ilawe Ekiti.
