Expresses gratitude to Governor Fayemi For 'Architect of the State' Award

The Secretary to the Ekiti State Government (SSG), Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji has charged youths to distinguish themselves by exhibiting impeccable character, value addition, emotional intelligence and resourcefulness in all their undertakings.

Mr. Oyebanji who gave the charge in Ado Ekiti stressed that his yearning to add value everywhere he found himself gave him the opportunity to serve on the committee for the creation of Ekiti State.

Oyebanji who was honoured with the award of 'Architect of the State' during the Ekiti Honours (Oni Uyi) Awards ceremony, emphasized that the prospect the elders and Traditional Rulers that made up the Ekiti State Creation Committee saw in him has been his strength to date.

Recalling that he was the youngest of the members of the Committee and Secretary of the team, Oyebanji noted that the elders did not consider him too young to serve on the committee, adding that they instead deliberately created opportunity to utilize him by consensus.

He expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for the honour bestowed on him and pledged to continue doing his best to improve his environment.

The SSG was honoured alongside 47 other prominent Ekiti sons and daughters at the maiden edition of the Ekiti Honours (Oni Uyi) Awards in recognition of their contribution to the creation of the state.

Governor Fayemi had earlier enumerated the objectives of the awards to include recognizing and rewarding individuals who excelled in their chosen careers as well as those who supported the development of the
State.

Stressing that the awards are non-partisan and devoid of biases, Fayemi disclosed that it’s a demonstration that it pays to live honorably and serve the common good of the people.

According to him, all Ekiti citizens and friends of the State who have distinguished themselves in various fields are qualified to be selected for the awards.

The 2021 edition of the Oni-Uyi Awards was in three categories of Ekiti Exceptional Achievers (EEA), Architects of Ekiti and Builders of Ekiti.
