The Governor of Edo State Mr Godwin Obaseki has commended Ekiti State Government and the State Ministry of Health for the smooth, systematic and excellent execution of Covid- 19 Vaccination exercise in the state.
Governor Obaseki gave the Commendation in Ado-Ekiti at the commissioning of one of the newly constructed roads in the state as part of activities marking the third Anniversary of Governor Kayode Fayemi in office.
The Edo state Governor expressed awe at the Ekiti state Vaccination campaigns, noting that the state's approach has made its to consistently outperformed most States in Nigeria.
"When I noticed this, I had to send spies to Ekiti to learn. After spending few days in Ekiti, my spies informed me of the things that stood Ekiti out".
"The state performance management mechanism, using the daily technical working group meetings to assess data from the field and troubleshoot and drive result. The willingness of the field teams to go above and beyond as well as the cohesion between the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the state". Governor Obaseki hinted.
The State Commissioner for Health Dr Oyebanji Filani hinted that the State has continually displayed leadership and commitment in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, through several innovative interventions such as the establishment of a Molecular Laboratory, the use of Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits for testing, the establishment of Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in all 16 LGAs, enforcement of Covid-19 regulations and the expansion of sample collection centres.
The state currently has over 145 decentralised testing centres across the State (the highest in the country) and its testing capacity has increased daily since July and scaled up other protocols to mitigate the spread of Covid -19 pandemic in the state. Filani disclosed.
