The Chairman of Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ogunmilade has appealed to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) to be more humane but firm in the course of their duties.
Mr. Ogunmilade who made the plea during a meeting with the Secto Commandeer of the FRSC and the Commander of VIO in the State, stressed the need for them to be more alive to their responsibilities in the discharge of their duties and have fear of God in their dealings.
Ogunmilade emphasized the need for the officers to shun greed, bribery and other shameful acts and irregularities stressing the need for them to promptly remit funds generated in to appropriate government’s coffers.
In his remarks, the Commander of VIO in the State, Engr. Mathew Ayegbusi who called for a review of the Auto-Reg system in use in the State, also advocated for charging of traffic violators to court for proper prosecution.
Also speaking, the Commander of FRSC, DCC AA Owolabi expressed appreciation to the IRS Chairman for the support received from the State by the Sector.
She however stressed the need for more synergy with the Revenue Service to boost effectiveness adding that there was need for more sensitization of the public on issues of vehicle registration, acquisition of number plates, application for driver’s license and collection.
