Ekiti Assembly Passes Mental Health Bill.

 

... Commits Revised Budget to Committee.

Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed the State Mental Health bill, 2021 and committed the 2021 Revised Appropriation bill to its Committee on Finance and Appropriation for further legislative scrutiny.

The Assembly at its plenary on Thursday passed the bill on mental health after a thorough debate on the inherent advantages it offers to the society.

The bill aimed to protect and guarantee the rights of mental disorder people in the society.

Members of the Assembly agreed that the bill, when operational would provide protection, care and other services for mentally challenged people in the state.

The Leader of Business, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan moved the motion for the bill passage and was seconded by Hon. Ajibade Adeyemi representing Moba constituency 1

The passage brings to 65 bills so far passed by the sixth Assembly in Ekiti State.

Charging the Finance and Appropriation Committee to work speedily on the appropriation bill and report back to the whole House, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye explained that the bill is aimed at rejigging the 2021 budget.
