Apart from the recent approval by the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for the establishment of three new model schools, the State Government has also founded additional five public secondary schools as part of efforts to improve access to quality education in the State.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye made this known while monitoring activities in the new schools to ensure that the students are properly accommodated.

The Commissioner listed the new schools as St. Michael Secondary School, Ifaki Ekiti; Baptist Secondary School, Ikere Ekiti; St. Michael Secondary School, Ado Ekiti; St. Thomas Secondary School, Irona, Ado Ekiti and Deji Fasuan Model College, Afao Road, Ado Ekiti.

Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the provision of free, qualitative and compulsory education to all children of school-age in the State; Aderiye attributed the establishment of the schools to the high value placed on the education sector by Governor Fayemi, stressing that Government would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that all school age children in the State are properly educated.

She said that the new Schools had since commenced academic activities.
