Former Security aide of Governor Kayode Fayemi, Hon Isreal Adesokan (Jaru) has expressed optimism that Nigeria will rise above its challenges and become great again if leaders and the followers work with sincerity of purpose.

He said all hands must be on deck with everyone playing their different roles faithfully in the quest for nation building.

The security expert expressed this optimism while fielding questions on national issues at an event organized by him to celebrate this year's Eid-el-Kabir festival.

Hon. Adesokan explained that a multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation like Nigeria requires tact, vision and strong will to govern.

He added that a remarkable result could only be achieved where leadership is not only prepared, they must also understand that in a complex setting like Nigeria, there was a need to give every section a sense of belonging whilst making aggressive efforts to engage its youths.

He used the opportunity to commend the military for its many successes in recent times, especially in cubbing the spread of activities of the non-state actors attacking security men, as well as the consistent pummeling of the terrorists through the combined efforts of the Nigeria Air Force and Army. Adesokan also congratulated the NAF and one of it's pilots, Flt Lt Abayomi Dairo who survived the crash of the fighter jet shot down by terrorists in Zamfara, saying the officer deserves some accolades for his ingenious gallantry.

The APC stalwart who also used the occasion to appeal to the leadership to pay more attention to building positive peace said, in a nation like ours, employment generation, infrastructural development, qualitative education, fair distribution of wealth, a working health sector, and above all, a true federal state where every tier plays it roles will automatically douse the tension being faced in Nigeria.

He however urged citizens to be more responsive to their duties, saying, there is a need to ask questions and hold leaders accountable.

"You don't fold your arms and expect things to happen. You need to demand good governance, it is your right."

Adesokan added that it is also incumbent on followers to give the needed support to leaders for them to be able to deliver their electioneering promises.

Earlier, Adesokan had distributed rams and cash gifts to some Muslim faithful. According to him, giving is one the most important tenets of Islam and this has been a core part of him. In his words; "Giving, to me is the essence of my existence. I am overwhelmed with joy whenever God uses me to bring smiles to people's faces, I want to always do more."
