The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Ekiti State Council has rejoiced with Governor Kayode Fayemi, his wife Erelu Bisi and people of the state generally over the award as Best "Governor of the Year"  bestowed on Governor Fayemi by Vanguard Newspapers.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti, Chairman of the Union, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela and the Secretary Comrade Kayode Babatuyi affirmed that the recognition of the Governor was a well deserved one, considering the monumental achievements recorded within the last three years of his administration.

According to the statement, one need not to be surprised by the honour because the Governor has proven beyond doubt the stuff he is made of in terms of quality leadership, provision of adequate security, social welfare scheme, transparency and good governance.

The statement reads" The current economic realities coupled with the challenges of Covid-19 have been a major points of excuse for many  Governors in the country to inflict pain on their people and abandon their tasks of providing basic amenities.

"Reverse is however the case in Ekiti as Governor Fayemi has continued to commission various capital intensive projects such as Ado-Iyin dual carriage way, Civic centre, Ilupeju-Iree road, Completion of Ojo Oba, employment and payment of salaries as and when due and provision of conducive environment for people to operate without hitch just to mention but a few.

"The level of road constructions and provision of equipments to schools, hospitals and government offices  across the state is unimaginable

"We at NUJ are indeed proud of the Governor more so that the union is one of the beneficiaries of the magnanimity of his Excellency. We promise to continue to project the good image of this government towards recording more successes.

While urging  the governor to sustain the good work, NUJ acknowledges the giant contributions of the Governor's wife Erelu Bisi Fayemi, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, and all cabinet members towards the success recorded by the Governor.
