...I remain bonafide APC member, says Adesokan

Ahead of the 2022 governorship and 2023 general elections, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has commenced the process of wooing more members from other political parties with the aim of boosting its chances in the forthcoming elections.

The Ekiti State chapter of the party has already reached out to the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Internal Security, Hon. Israel Adesokan (JARU).

The State chairman of the party, Mr Rufus Alabi who led some of the party executives to Adesokan's Iyin Ekiti home, said Adesokan has what it takes to boost the chances of the party in the coming elections.

He said the former Governor's aide on security has consistently demonstrated traits of a trustworthy leader hence the decision of the party to approach him.

"This meeting is for the progress of our party. Though Jaru has not told us he has interest in contesting for any position, we want to woo him to join our party. Our decision to approach him is based on the fact that he is a grassroots mobiliser and a man who is loved by all. Having him in APGA will boost our chances and help us coast home to victory in the coming elections", Alabi said.

The party chairman also used the medium to call on the state government to beef up security in the State saying that the spate of kidnapping in the State is alarming.

He noted that government was able to get information from the grassroots during the first regime of Governor Fayemi because the SA Security was close to people in the rural areas and got security information from them.

Also speaking, the State Woman leader of the party, Mrs Ilesanmi Margaret said the party is aware of Adesokan's passion for women, saying that the visit of some women from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) was an evidence that he would ensure women development and empowerment if he is government.

Ilesanmi who is a retired secondary school teacher said the party would do well with Jaru as a member of their party.

In his response, Hon. Adesokan thanked the party leaders for their visit but stated that he remains a bonafide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adesokan said his commitment to the success of the Fayemi-led administration is unflinching.

His words: "I was informed that someone wanted to see me but to my surprise I saw all of you. Let me say that I belong to APC as a bonafide member and committed to the success of the present administration. I have conviction to participate actively in politics and to help the poor and the physically challenged. We will do all to ensure that the less privileged benefit from government".

On security, Adesokan urged everyone to pray for the peace of Nigeria and the progress of Ekiti State; saying that the nation is sure to overcome its challenges and become a better place for all.
