A chieftain of the All Progressive Party(APC) in Ekiti State and former Aide to Governor Kayode Fayemi, Israel Adesokan (Jaru) has called on all critical stakeholders in the Nigerian project to stand in unity to end the current unrest in the country.

While playing host to selected women stakeholders which cut across the 16 local government areas of the State's opposition People's Democratic Party(PDP) at his residence in Irewolede Housing Estate, Ado-Ekiti, Adesokan said the security of lives and property is an aspect of governance that should not be politicised.

He explained that it became important to hold the meeting considering the strategic role women play in society and a security strategy. He said; "One of the most credible ways of finding solutions during a crisis is to seek advice from your opposition".

He added that he believes the message will be taken back to their wards and units.

The APC chieftain warned those fanning the embers of war to desist as this country is the only one we have.

Israel Adesokan also used the opportunity to give his Nigeria Democracy Day admonition, said he believes that the country would still attain its full potential after surmounting all these hydra-headed challenges.

He however advised that a different approach should be considered for these security challenges. He said providing the necessities of life for the masses is the best way to maintain peace and sustain development. It's time to consider this approach to security.

In his words; "Understandably, people are agitated and are demanding for a better life. Youths want employment and a lot of people feel marginalised. What the masses are asking for is an equitable distribution of wealth and opportunities. People want justice.  I can bet you if these are provided, peace and security will reign in our country and Ekiti State too".

The leader of the women delegation, Mrs Adenike Akinyede, a member of the PDP from Ekiti Southwest local government who spoke on behalf of the team showered encomiums on Hon. Adesokan for the initiative, saying the deliberations were very productive.

Mrs Akinyede added that the polity needs politicians who connect well with the grassroots the way Jaru does, saying "to solve our numerous challenges, there is need to do that from the bottom".
