Fayemi’s Ex-Aide restates commitment to helping the needy

A former aide of the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Hon. Israel Adesokan (Jaru) has reiterated his commitment to helping the poor and needy.

Adesokan reiterated this commitment in Ado Ekiti while being presented with an award by the Yoruba Broadcaster Association (YBA); saying that his philanthropic gestures were not politically motivated  but driven by the fact that he came from a poor background.

He pledged to continue to help those in need; adding that soon some programmes will be put in place so that people regardless of their tribe or religion could benefit.

“I appreciate you for this award. What I went through many years ago made me decide to support the poor. Poverty is not good; I have vowed to God to help people in need. We are coming up with a number of programmes to support the poor regardless of their religion or tribe. One of those programmes is the cultural cooking competition where every tribe in Ekiti will participate.”

“One of my childhood friends, Olatunji oni who now lectures at Rufus Giwa is here. We suffered a lot while we were young but today we are grateful to God for giving us hope and that hope is what we want other poor people to benefit from”, he said.

While presenting the award to Adesokan, the president of Yoruba Broadcasters Association Evang. Olusayo Bakare said the award in recognition of Adesokan’s philanthropy.

Bakare added that the Association has heard of how Adesokan procured and distributed free JAMB forms for students, paid hospital bills of the woman who gave birth but detained in the hospital following her inability to pay the bills, and many other people-centred gestures.

He stressed that the society needed more people like Adesokan who would be able to help the poor and create a better society.
