Fayemi charges NOA to include State Governments Programmes in Sensitization Activities.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has charged officials of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) not to limit themselves to sensitizing only the policies, programmes and activities of the Federal Government.

Dr. Fayemi who gave the charge while receiving the new Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA) Ekiti State, Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa in Ado-Ekiti, stressed the need to include the programme and activities of the State and Local Government in their itinerary.

The Governor who spoke through the State Commissioner for Information and values Orientation, Hon. Akin Omole noted that proper information dissemination of Government activities would reduce the spread of fake news, help the people understand Government’s actions and assist in generating feedback to government.

Fayemi said that his administration was not unaware of the huge cost involved in ensuring dissemination of accurate information to the public, adding that the prevailing economic challenges occasioned by the global economic downturn and the fast dwindling allocation to the State from the Federation account had however constituted a huge challenge.

Assuring that no stone would however be left unturned towards ensuring proper management of information in the State within the ambit of available resources, Fayemi said that the focus is to enhance participatory governance and accountability, motivate the citizens with ideas for better productivity and create intellectual bank for policy formulation and implementation.

Earlier, the Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA) Ekiti State, Mrs. Olawumi Famuyiwa had solicited a better synergy and support of the State Government to enhance efficiency and boost service delivery of the Agency in the State.

Mrs. Famuyiwa who described her posting to Ekiti State as “homecoming”, pledged to work assiduously towards achieving the desired goal of educating and informing people particularly those at the grassroots of the policies, programmes and activities of government at all levels.

According to her, “NOA does not discriminate amidst the Federal, State and Local Government stories” adding that “the primary assignment is to act as mouthpiece of Government and generate feedback to help make policies”.

She highlighted current programmes of NOA to include sensitization on voters’ registration exercise, National symbols such as the National flag and Coat of arms as well as collation of data for the Home Grown
School Feeding programme.
