Efficiency: Ekiti Government Trains Healthcare workers

In a bid to further enhance more productivity and efficiency in the health sector, the Ekiti State Government has commenced a 5-day capacity building training of health workers across the State.

The State Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr Oyebanji Filani who declared the training opened in Ado Ekiti disclosed that 502 health workers from Ado , Ikere, Oye and Ikole Local Government areas were participating in the first phase of the training which has been organized for the workers in all the 16 local council areas of the State.

Dr Filani who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Human Services, Mr Akinjide Akinleye stated that the programme was aimed at improving the capacity and knowledge of the health workers for more efficient and improved healthcare service delivery.

The commissioner stated that the Dr Kayode Fayemi-led administration has prioritized facility uplift  both at the primary and Secondary health facilities with the aim of ensuring a conducive work environment for medical personnel.

He added that renovation works and completion of outstanding buildings have commenced at the Oba Adejugbe General Hospital Ado-Ekiti while works would soon begin at other State Specialist and General hospitals across the State.

Filani said the State Government would soon take delivery of state-of-the-art medical equipment which would improve quality of healthcare service in the State.

He urged  Ekiti residents especially health workers whom he described as front line workers to receive Covid-19 vaccines; noting that vaccination remains the best way to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Pharmacist Olabisi Arogundade commended Governor Fayemi for his passion for excellence and love for Ekiti workers as evident in the approval of several capacity building trainings for the health workers in the State.

 

Arogundade who charged the participants to pay absolute attention to all the details of the training stressing the need to translate the knowledge gained at the training appropriately to better service delivery at their various facilities.
